Ashok Pati: The young and talented director
At the age when most persons busy in accumulating money and are busy in climbing their career ladder, the young and talented director of Odia film industry Ashok Pati has created a niche for him in the field. The young director whose most of his films are romantic in nature has gained accolades from all quarters. Pati is a renowned director in Ollywood and he is best known for his experiment in his every film. His films are known for exotic locations and super stylish costumes. This is due to his bollywood connection. Before coming to Odia films, he was an assistant director in Mumbai. He has assisted Milan Lutharia in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Hindi movie Deewar. Ashok Pati also writes story and screenplay of maximum his films.
He made his Odia film debut as an assistant director in the movie Sahar Jaluchhi in 1998. The film was directed by Sudhansu Sahu. He kicked off as a director in the film ‘Baazi’. After a year break, he came up with Baazi. Then he took an off from Ollywood for a long five year. He returned to the Odia cine industry once again in 2007 with a bang. In 2007, his ‘Mu Tate Love Karuchhi’ was released, and became successful. He directed a series of love story movies from 2007 to till date. His directorial ventures Mate Ta Love Helare, Nandini I Love You, Prema Rogi, Dream Girl, Sanju Aau Sanjana, Diwana, Loafer and Idiot are superhit films. His last three movies are super hits as all the movies have strong story line along with heart-touching songs with tinge of humour. In his latest movie Idiot, the film started with the director as he voices some morals and he describes the charters at opening scenes.
Barsha: The leading actress in Ollywood
Barsha Priyadarshini is one of the prominent actresses in Ollywood industry. She is regarded as the queen of Odia cinema industry. Ollywood’s glam diva born on August 7, 1984 in the temple city and she completed her graduation from RD Women’s College, Bhubaneswar. Acting is in her blood as her mother Dipa Sahu was a former Odia actress. Barsha was influenced by watching her mother in films. They are three sisters, among them Barsha is the youngest one. While her mother is a Brahmin, father is a Khandayat.
The stunning beauty kicked off her silver screen journey through veteran Hara Patnaik directed Odia cinema Ae Jugara Krushna Sudama in 2003 starring Mithun Chakraborty and Uttam Mohanty. After her debut in Odia film, she has never looked back. She also did two Odia cinemas in the debut year. The most talented, critically acclaimed actress becomes the number one heroine in the industry through her spectacular performances. She was highly applauded for her acting skills in the movies like Matric Fail (2012), Something Something (2012), Balungatoka (2011), Kiese Dakuchi Kouthi Mote (2011), Chatire Lekhichi Tori Naa (2011), Diwana (2010) and Aama Bhitare Kichhi Achhi (2010). Sabyasachi: The all rounder in Ollywood
Sabyasachi Mishra is one of the leading actors in the Odia cinema. He has proved his caliber both in negative as well as lead actor. He born on October 6, 1984 in the Temple City. He completed his schooling from Bhubaneswar Unit 1 Boys High School and completed his BE degree from Silicon Institute of Technology, situated in the capital city of Odisha.
Sabyasachi Mishra is a true actor among Ollywood heroes in recent times. He has proved his acting talent in his debut movie ‘Pagala Premi’ in 2007 directed by Hara Patnaik. His scintillating performance in the movie has touched to the hearts of Odia cine buffs. By his acting, he has indicated the arrival of a talented actor to the Ollywood industry. His debut venture ‘Pagala Premi’ is a remake movie, but he never showed any hint to the cine lovers and critics that he is a new comer in acting. The movie gave him a lot of mileage to him. He was critically acclaimed for his acting skill in this movie. Then after that he has never looked back. In his second film Mun Sapanara Soudagara he enacted an anti-hero character superbly. Arindam Roy: The promising star in Ollywood industry
Arindam Roy who has already bagged many accolades for his acting skills has proven his acting talent in Ollywood industry. He is a popular Odia and Bengali actor famous for his athletic physique.
Arindam is a trained Taekwondo martial artist and is a 4th degree black belt holder. He is a national referee in the same field. His father Gopal Chandra Roy is the president of the Orissa Taekwondo Association and also an international master as well as referee. Arindam started learning Taekwondo under his father during his childhood and got the black belt in 1992 at the age of 11. He has won several state level, district level and national level championships. He used to train students in martial art before coming into the world of cinema. He was popularly called as Rantu sir by his students. He completed his schooling from SCB Medical public School, Cuttack. He is a commerce graduate from Christ College, Cuttack and has a degree from the Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
Arindam ventured into silver screen by fate. Arandim kicked off his movie journey through Odia film Prema Rutu Asilare in 2006. This film is produced by Brajaraj Movies and directed by Sudhanshu Sahoo. Then he acted in Mun Tate Love Karuchi in 2007 and got the lover boy image for his acting. The 2007 was a very producing year for him as he acted four movies in this year. He did Lal Tuku Tuku Sadhaba Bohu, A Mana Manena and Kali Shankar in the same year. In the next year he acted in only one Odia movie Sapana ra Soudagar as he was busy in Bengali film industry. He started his Tollywood jopurney through Takkar in 2008. In the same year, he also acted in another Bengali movie Tomar Jonyo. He is known as Rushi Roy in Bengali film. He has already acted in 13 Odia movies and four Bengali movies. His latest released movie Raja Jhia Sange Hoigala Bhaba, a Sarthak banner produced movie, was a superhit and it was released at the time of Rajo, the king of festivals in Odisha. His upcoming movie is ‘Parsuram’ being produced by Sarthak Films.
Siddhanta Mahapatra: The first superstar of Ollywood
The actor-turned politician is the most popular hero of all time in Odia movie world. He is regarded as the first Odia hero who has all the potentialities to become a hero. He is the brightest star in the sky of Ollywood industry. Currently, he is taking up fewer projects as he is busy in politics these days. Though, he is acting in less film currently, still he is enjoying the status of superstar. He is a master in all formats including dancing, acting, action, emotion and all. He is also famous for doing some difficult stunts by himself.
Born to doctor parents on May 4, 1966 at Balugaon in Khurda district, the actor completed his schooling from St Vincent’s Convent School, Berhampur and passed his intermediate and graduation in commerce from DD College, Keonjhar. He completed his masters from FMS, Delhi. He was elected to Parliament with BJD ticket from Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency in 2009. He is married to actress Mama Mishra and they have one son and a daughter named as Sai Samarth and Saisiddhi respectively.
The one of the finest actors of Odisha, Siddhant acted both in Odia and Bengali films. His first break in Odia films came in 1993 at the age of 27 years at the behest of his cousin brother. He has acted in more than 150 films. His debut film Shradhanjali starred Lekha Nanda in the female lead. After the super success of his first movie, he has never looked backed and became the unmatchable hero till the late 2000s. His pairing with Rachana Banerjee gave the Odia film a new dimension. It was rumoured that the actor had an affair with Bengali actress Rachana Banerjee in the mid 90s, they were rumored to have been married. But at the end all were proved as rumours. His latest released Odia movie was Rangila Toka.
In his film career, he has achieved many film fare awards and other state awards for films. He is also involved in various social activities as Member of Parliament.
Babusan: A superstar in making
Tanmay Mohanty, popularly known as Babusan in Ollywood, is the pride son of popular Odia actor- actress couple Uttam Mohanty and Aparajita Mohanty. The emerging superstar in Ollywood has already proved his mettle and acting talent in the industry as all of his released films are hits or superhits.
The little superstar of Ollywood, Babusan did his schooling from DAV Public School in the temple city, is currently studying in KIIT University.
Babusan who is a trained classical singer has also proved his singing quality in his movies. He bagged the best male singer award for ‘Chocolate’ in 2010. He started singing at the age of just 10 and his parent especially mother Aparajita wants him as a good singer instead of an actor.

His other films Sanju au Sanjana, Prema Adhai Akhar, Lofar, Chocolate, Idiot and others were great success. His latest released film was Idiot which was released during Rajo was a blockbuster hit movie. Currently, Babusan is working for the movie ‘Sweetheart’ and Love Master, the latter is one of the upcoming Odia film produced by Uttam Mohanty who has started his film production from this film. He is going with great guns with improvement in his every movie. Babusan has the chocolate boy image as all his movies are love-centric and he has the great potentiality to laugh the audience.

Anubhav: The Real Superstar of Ollywood
Anubhav Mohanty, undoubtedly the superstar of Ollywood, needs no introduction. Even, the first film of the star made him a household name in the State. He has not only proved his mettle in Ollywood, but he has also made a mark in the Bengali Film Industry.
Anubhav born on December 24, 1981 at Choudhry Bazar in Cuttack. His nickname is fapun. He completed his schooling from DAV Public School, Cuttack. He passed his graduation degree in commerce from Christ College.
Anubhav kicked off his silver screen journey starring as the lead actor in the Hara Patnaik directed and Brajaraj Banner produced movie ‘I Love You’ in 2004 against Bengal beauty Namrata Thappa. This film was declared as a blockbuster and it is the top grosser movie in Odia film history which gave Anubhav an everlasting mileage. He has never looked back after that. Due to his first film’s overwhelming success, his name only draws Odia movie buffs to the cinema halls and all his movies become successful. The debut film of the actor also changed the style of film making in Odia cine industry. The charismatic actor and most bankable star in Ollywood industry made his debut in Bengali film industry with the movie ‘Saathi Aamar’ opposite Rachana Banerjee. Before coming to films, he had started his career as a model and also won several awards for modeling. Then he came to Odia album industries and featured in around 200 Odia album videos and earned the numero uno position in Odia album industry also. He has already acted in 29 Odia films and nine Bengali movies. His upcoming movie is ACP Ranvir. While his last released Odia film was Matric Fail (2012), his most recent Bengali film was Bhagyachakra in 2008. The actor-cum-producer has opened a production house ‘Vishnupriya Art and Graphics’ after his grandmother’s name.
Initially, he got the lover boy image as all of his preliminary movies were love-centric. But, later he acted in serious and action films. Papu Pampam: Our own Govinda of Ollywood
Now-a-days if you say something about comedy in Odisha, then immediately one name comes into mind Papu Pam Pam, the laughter king of odisha. In recent years, with countless stage, TV, radio performances he left oriya viewers and listners spellbound. But the real name of this immensly talented artist is Tatwa Prakash Satpathy, best known as Pappu Pum Pum or simply Papu.
He belongs to a family of artists from Kaptipada, Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Papu was a born performer and his father was the headmaster of a school but had received the President’s award for performing magic. He and his siblings, all are good at studies and also performed on stage from childhood as they love to perform jatra, music and dance.
Papu is a trained Hindustani vocalist. After completing B.Sc with chemistry honours, Papu came to Bhubaneswar to make a career either in acting or in the music industry. After a short struggle, he met veteran Uttam Mohanty. Uttam sir told him how tough the competetion is in acting industry in Odisha, better he should try in music.
After that, he created close to 60 audio albums, but neither he could pay well, nor recognition. After eight years struggle, he got married in 2002 against his parents’ wishes. Suddenly, the family supporting him financially closed door for him. It was getting tougher, when they have a son in 2007.
At that time, private FM Radio Channels entered into Odisha market. After trying for a couple of stations, he made an entry as Papu Pam Pam in Radio Chocolate with self scripted small laughter capsules. This was an instant hit and he was able to create an identity in the field of comedy.
After issues over pay, he accepted the offer from private TV channel Tarang in 2009. Then all the TV shows with Tarang & Tarang Music e.g. Xcuse Me, Faltu Katha, Papu Beauty Parlour became widely popular in rural and urban Odisha. In fact, playing 118 different characters in the TV series Xcuse Me earned him a place in the Limca Book of Records. Meanwhile, he had also made his mark in films last year with interesting roles in To Akhire Mun, Sanju Aau Sanjana, Diwana and so on, all of which had his own scripts.
“One actor must be capable of doing every kind of role”- Papu Pampam
Papu Pampam has already done wonder in comedy shows, radio, tv, cd film, etc. But his biggest challenge is now when he is doing a film and that too as the leading hero. Papu’s unlimited fans and cine lovers are now counting days to see what wonder Papu has created in his movie ‘Rangeela Toka’. The movie which was due to release on Rajja was postponed and now it’s going to hit the theatres near you. In ‘Rangeela Toka’, Debajani is to be seen opposite Papu and with the spreaded trailers of movies in TV channels, both of them are rocking the screens. “One actor must be capable of doing every kind of role.He must laugh, sing, dance, cry, romance- all at the same time. That is versatility”, expresses Papu Pampam. In Rangeela Toka, Papu will be seen as a naïve village folk who falls in love with a girl whose parents doesn’t approve their relationship. Papu is highly positive about the success of the movie.

There are so many actresses in Ollywood but one actress has won the eyes and heart of filmmakers lately. She is none other than Rali Nanda. Rali Nanda is currently riding with success as she has many offers in her hand. Apart from her ready-to-release ‘Superstar’, she is currently doing lead role in ‘Naee Separi Kanaka Gori’. Rali who was first seen in a typical rural girl role in ‘Kalingaputra’ is again to be seen in same type of role in Naee Separi Kanaka Gori. Though Rali has proved her versatility by opting for some modern looking romantic emotional girl type of roles in other movies, she was anxious to do a rural girl role again. Her wish comes true when she was casted in Naee Separi Kanaka Gori and that too in an important character who will be the center of the story. Rali is too confident and aspiring for this role of simple village girl. She is surefooted that her role in Naee Separi Kanaka Gori will be appreciated by audience and critics.
