National Film Awards conferred to winners

On a glittering day, the most prestigious National award has been conferred to the winners at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi on Thursday. Vice-President Hamid Ansari honored legendary actor of Bengali cinema Soumita Chaterjee with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Mr. Chatterjee, who debuted in legendary film-maker Satyajit Ray’s much acclaimed ‘Apur Sansar’ in 1959, received a standing ovation from the audience for the same.

In the best film category, Marathi film ‘Deool’ and ‘Byari’ shared the award and honored with Swarna Kamal. For the film ‘Deool’, Girish Kulkarni won the best actor award, while for the Silk Smitha character in ‘The Dirty Picture’, Vidya Balan received the award for the first time with awe and amusement. “I am very happy and I feel humbled because it is the highest honor for an actor”, she said.

For the film ‘Byari’, its director Suveeran accepted the award from Mr. Ansari. Producer T. H. Althaf bagged the second Swarna Kamal for the same film. Director Kumararaja Thiagarajan won a Swarna Kamal for Tamil film ‘Aaranya Kandam,’ for the best debut film of a director while the movie received another Swarna Kamal for best editing. In popular film category, another Tamil movie ‘Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai’ bagged the Swarna Kamal for providing hearty entertainment to the audience. Onir’s ‘I am’ was awarded for the best Hindi film this year.

Children Film ‘Chillar Party’ won the award for the best film in the category. In the occasion, all the 11 child actors jumped with jolly as they went to the podium to collect the award from the Vice-President. Filmmaker Amole Gupte’s son Partho won the best child artiste for his outstanding performance in ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’.

Amitav Bhatacharya’s ‘Agar Jindagi’ got the best music award. Anand Bhate won best male playback singer for Marathi film ‘Bal Gandharb’ while for best female playback, Rupa Ganguli was awarded for Bengali movie ‘Abosose’.

In the non-feature film category, director Ashvin Kumar and producer Jaaved Jaffrey “Inshallah, Football” won two Rajat Kamals.

A.S. Nalamuthu won the best cinematography award for his film on environment ‘Tiger Dynasty’.

For best choreography, Bollywood choreographer Bosco-Ceaser won an award for ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ song while Beylon Fonseca was awarded for ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ and ‘Game’ for best sound designing and re-recording. Designer Niharika Khan received award for best costume designer for ‘The Dirty Picture’. For best visual effects, with his marvelous work in Ra One, Harry Hingorani won the award.

This year, 24 feature films bagged the National Award, while in the non-feature films category 21 were honored.

Fake Facebook accounts annoys celebrities

In order to maintain image, and uphold a strong fan base, celebrities utilize social network websites such as Facebook to attempt to communicate with their fans around the world. But, Facebook is a public domain where millions of users can create accounts, it is easy to create a fake account of a celebrity. As a result, those insane people misuse the account in the name of a particular celebrity and write abusing comments, opinion and speculate them all over the internet. These activities in the end tarnish the image of that celebrity.

Ollywood industry is also active in Facebook. Starting from legendary actor actresses to current super stars, many of the Odia celebrity has an account in Facebook. But recently, some instances of fake account of Ollywood celebrities have caught the eyes of media.

Ollywood’s singing star Babushan is currently grieved over seeing an account in his name doing rounds in Facebook. The person who is controlling the account is abusing the followers who believe the account is of Babushan. Similarly, Prakruti Mishra, the new Ollywood diva, has expressed his sorrow regarding a fake account of her in Facebook. The case is the same as that of Babushan as the person scolding, abusing peoples in foul and rude language. While Facebook for celebrity is a fruitful ground for communication, and keeping contact with fans, sometimes it is a nuisance only because of these types of insane people.

Celebrities have conveyed concern over these fake facebook accounts and requested fans not to indulge in such activities as it is breaching their privacy, public image and peace of mind.

The fake accounts have been reported to Facebook officials. While it will take a while to delete those accounts, strong legal action could be taken if the problem persists, they have indicated.
