‘Chocolate’ sweeps away 8 awards

While movies made for audience’s entertainment and amusement, awards being given for movie makers’ encouragement. An award for an actor, director or comedian is a promise – a promise to give audience even better work and performance. With a similar aim, Taranga TV of Odisha organizes Cine Awards for filmmakers, artists, crew who delivers their best work in a year.

This year, Ollywood cine stars Anubhav and Archita swept away the Tarang Cine Awards ‘Best Actor’ for ‘Balunga Toka’ and ‘Best Actress’ for the movie ‘Chocolate’ respectively, while the ‘Best Film’ award of 2011 went to ‘Balunga Toka’ here on Sunday. Veteran Odia actor Sarat Pujari was awarded the lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the Odia cine world.

At least 31 movies were released in the year 2011. But Chocolate film cleanly swept away 8 awards to its kitty bag that consisted best director – Susant Mani (Chocolate), best lyrist Bapu Goswami (Chocolate), best actress – Arachita (Chocolate), best supporting Actress – Aparajita (Chocolate), best dialogue – Bapu Goswami (Chocolate), best dance Director- Susant Mani (Chocolate) and best playback Singer (Male) – Babusan(Chocolate).

While best villain went to Samaresh (Loafer), best supporting actor award to Minaketan (BalungaToka), best comedian – Papu Pom Pom (BalungaToka), best debut actor – Harihar (Mu Premi Mu Pagal), best debut actress- Anuva Panda (Mu Premi Mu Pagal), best cinematographer – A.K. Bir (Jianta Bhuta), best music director – Premananda (Chandani I Miss You), best playback singer (Female) – Tapu Mishra (Chandani I Miss You).

“Films should be produced not only to entertain the mass but also to give some quality message to its audience,” said veteran bollywood actor Om Puri, chief guest of the award ceremony. Various cultural programs were performed by the Odia cine artist to mark the glory and grandeur of the occasion.
